Senior Engineering Lead
Cheryl Quah is a Senior Engineering Lead in Bloomberg's San Francisco Engineering office. Her team is building a financial data science platform based on Jupyter notebooks and also actively contributing to this open source project and community. In 2014, she co-founded Bloomberg Women in Technology (BWIT), a global community of more than 1,100 Bloomberg employees – now with chapters in New York, London, Princeton, San Francisco and Tokyo – that empowers women to take on leadership roles; creates topical programming; and inspires girls and young women to pursue STEM-related careers. One of the BWIT initiatives she spearheaded included partnering with Bloomberg's Corporate Philanthropy team – a part of Bloomberg Philanthropies, which is fueled by a majority of the company's profits – to create STEM curricula and provide teachers and mentors to local middle- and high-school students via local nonprofit organizations. After earning her bachelor's degree in physics from Princeton University, she began her Bloomberg career in New York City in 2012 and moved to San Francisco in 2016.
